Opinions

I know, this was like, so four weeks ago, but I didn't post four weeks ago. Let's catch up.

Chief Justice Roberts gave the deciding vote for the Supreme Court stating that Obama's health care plan as it stood was not constitutional under the context of commerce law, meaning that you can't tell people to buy insurance anymore than you can tell them to buy broccoli. However under tax law, the majority states that it is legal. This means that as long as the government offers a punitive tax to be paid in place of buying health insurance, then it is legal as far as the government is accountable to current tax law.  The only part of the law that the Supreme Court rescinded was the governments power to force each state to set up a program to utilize the additional funds, in the most simplistic terms, as a measure to protect states rights.

There is a lot of controversy about this right now, and so many different ways to look at it.

A tax professionals opinion about what it means.

Happy with Roberts

Not so sure about Roberts

SO, here is the way both candidates for the presidency have addressed the health care bill on their web-sites. Again I think the Republicans could do better in making their case. In fact any type of case would be helpful. Bama, as usual, all smoke and mirrors, convincing smoke and mirrors.

Mitt-Face

Obama-Face

All of this is of course just fodder for the mind.  It's good to think about what you think, don't you think?

  2. Emily, thanks for compiling this. I am an educated woman with two degrees and I still need to think really hard and have a dictionary nearby when I read this kind of stuff. That being said, I wonder how much of America knows what's going on...

I don't know which face I like better. I dislike where the money is coming from. I also dislike that they are using this money. Physicians and other healthcare providers are already getting paid very little when reimbursed by the government...

I think there is a benefit to no pre- existing conditions and the children, however, that could have been dealt with without pushing a political agenda by use of taxes. I liked the article where this has been done before, the real estate tax credit, children, etc... It's like they are pushing for a certain way of life. So the question is, When will that stop?

  4. Ahhh this was a lot of information. I think I understand and then I don't. I think I understand a little about what Romney wants to do and I think the trial and error of the individual states is all we have left to try. I don't understand Obamacare still though. I even tried to take the quiz " How will Obama care affect you and I still have no idea what it will do for me or how I will be affected. I am just so confused and I seriously can't stand listening to both Bamie and Romney talk about anything. I like Romney's wife. I want her to get up and tell me what her husbands plan is to fix healthcare and create jobs is. Then after Ann talks then maybe Michelle can get up and tell us the presidents plans. Honestly though I bet they don't even know what their husbands plans are. I just wish all this stuff made more sense to me. I want to be informed and I do try but I just never understand. There are always too many missing pieces. Ok I am done thinking now.
